Paignton is the second largest of the three towns that make up
the holiday region of Torbay. Boasting some of the finest sandy
beaches in Devon it is very popular with holidaymakers of all ages.
Entertainments on or near the sea front area include the famous
Paignton pier, a multiplex cinema, crazy golf, donkey rides and
slot machines. The tourist information office is located next to
the multiplex cinema on the main Paignton seafront. The green pays
host to many different attractions throughout the year.
The main sea front road is Esplanade road and has an array of different
restaurants, bars and eateries. If you are looking for live music
then Paignton has a number of bars and restaurants with entertainers
playing a diverse range to cover most musical tastes. One of Paigntons
most popular tourist attractions is the Paignton to Dartmouth steam
train ride. The station is located at the top end of town near the
British rail station. Paignton zoo, which is one of Torbay's most
popular tourist attractions, is just a short bus ride from the seafront
or town centre.
Paignton harbour is at the far end of the seafront and has a number
of traditional eateries including fresh fish outlets. Fishing and
boat trips around the bay leave from Paignton pier.
Just a short walk along the coast brings you to Goodrington, which
has its very own sandy beach and a selection of entertainments including
Quay West Water Park, a children's fun fair, the seashore centre,
crazy golf, boating lake and penny arcades. On the beach you can
find small peddle boats for hire during the summer months.
A short walk from Goodrington leads you to the Torbay leisure centre
that has a number of sporting facilities and attractions.
Paignton has excellent public transport facilities for travel throughout
Torbay and South Devon. The main coach and bus station can be found
on the top end of the main town centre and the popular number 12
coastal bus services for journeys to Torquay and Brixham. Next to
the bus station is the rail station for connecting services offering
travel throughout the Devon region.
